It might be surprising for some to hear that a lot of the most talented musicians never really get around to writing, let alone releasing, their own music.

Why is that?

In my experience, this has rarely been for lack of talent or ambition. It's more from the abundance of good paying party gigs for those who can 'hang' in the live setting playing well known covers. Not that there is anything at all wrong with making your dough playing events in swanky hotels or ballrooms, but it can be a fair distraction for musicians who want to get their own personal ideas out into the public's ears.

Thus we find Powerplay, AOTPR's newest artists. Well known as one of Chicago's most electrifying bands they feature 11 members and several tight sets of Pop, Latin, R&B, Jazz, and Funk. That's why it is super cool that one of the founding principles of the band is that the members encourage each other to share new material with each other.

Their first release with AOTPR is titled 'Amparo' and explores the subtle and mysterious relationship of love across a language barrier. Infused with hot Latin percussion and tight jazz inspired harmonies you can hear that this track was a labor of love.
